Information for returnees with foreign citizenship

A significant number of returnees who have foreign citizenship return to the Republic of Serbia every year. Usually, these are people of Serbian origin who were born abroad and want to experience life in Serbia. Return is an important event in the life of every returnee and a very significant moment for Serbian society, which is enriched by every return of people who are interested in building their lives and creating a home in their original homeland.

The Republic of Serbia is actively working on developing incentive and support programs as well as legal regulations aimed at facilitating returns. One of the most significant initiatives recognized in this area is the Returning Point initiative.

Returning Point, a circular migration program, provides support for easier return and circulation of talented individuals. Through projects that engage successful returnees and experts, representatives of the private, public and civil sectors and international organizations, the Returning Point team works to establish bridges of cooperation between Serbian society in the country and abroad.

On the initiative of the Returning Point and with the full support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, returnees who are thinking about returning are given the opportunity to regulate their stay in the country in a simple way and try out life in Serbia. Connecting with local events and Serbian culture is now also possible through a temporary residence in Serbia based on Serbian origin for all those who do not have Serbian citizenship but are interested in experiencing life and work in Serbia.
